Actor Karthi’s 27th film ‘Meiyazhakan’ will be released worldwide on September 27. The highlight is that Arvind Swami plays the lead role alongside Karthi. Sridivya is the heroine. The film is directed by C. Premkumar, who gained attention with the super hit film ‘96’. The first look, second look posters, and teaser were recently released by the crew and went viral on social media. Now, the trailer has also received a great reception. The trailer indicates that the film has a highly emotional theme.

“After six years of making the film ‘96’, Meiyazhakan is being made. The script has been polished all this time. Why such a film at this time? I must answer this question first. Recently, whether on social media or around us, the thought of hatred is increasing. Only love can change this. This film is about that. How? You will understand when you watch the film,” said director Prem Kumar.

About Meiyazhakan, Karthi said, "Everyone loved the film ‘96’. He had taken great care in the story, screenplay, and dialogues of that film. The industry will not leave someone who gave such a big hit. They will chase him to make the next film. But even though opportunities came, Prem Kumar did not make a film immediately. This shows that he is not someone who runs after fame. Knowing that he had such a story (Meiyazhakan), I approached him myself.

When I read this script, my eyes filled with tears. Prem must have written this story mostly during the COVID period. Everyone in life has a search, an investigation. During the festival season, everyone goes from Chennai to their hometown. Then the city itself will be empty. Everyone loves their hometown that much. In this, the hometown itself is the central character. While acting in ‘Kaithi’, the shooting was at night from start to finish. Lokesh Kanagaraj gave fight scenes that broke my back. After that film, Meiyazhakan is the film where I acted for many days in night shoots. But the specialty is that there is not a single stunt scene in this.

While Arvind Swami and I were acting and talking to each other, we used to say that if the emotions in these scenes are brought to the screen without reducing them, the film will achieve great success. Throughout the film, my character tortures Arvind Swami by calling him ‘Athaan, Athaan’.

The song ‘Kaathale Kaathale’ from ‘96’ is still the ringtone on most people’s phones. Similarly, most people travel listening to the songs from Meiyazhakan. A song sung by Kamal Haasan sir in this film has already gained great popularity and added great value to the film. I thank him especially. Prem Kumar will not write a story without Ilaiyaraaja’s love. This has also happened in Meiyazhakan," he said.

It is a subject that has greatly influenced me and that I am still experiencing… I will talk about it after the film is released,” said Arvind Swami about the film and his character.

Govind Vasantha is the music director. After the huge success of the film ‘Viruman’ in Tamil Nadu, this film is produced by 2D Entertainment with Karthi as the hero. Suriya and Jyothika are the producers. Rajasekhar Karpoora Sundara Pandian is the co-producer. Along with Karthi, Arvind Swami, and Sridivya, Raj Kiran, Jayaprakash, and Sharan play key roles in the film.
